The number of businesses created in Morocco totaled 61,178 in the first eight months of 2024, according to the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC).
These companies are divided into legal entities (44,261) and natural persons (16,917), OMPIC says in the general overview of its business creation barometer.
The sector breakdown reveals a predominance of trade with a share of 34.64%, followed by construction and real estate (19.16%), miscellaneous services (18.77%), transport (7.97%), industry (7.32%), hotels and restaurants (5.66%), ICT – Information and Communication Technologies (2.78%), financial activities (2.09%) and agriculture and fishing (1.61%), according to the same source.
By region, Casablanca-Settat leads the ranking with 19,361 companies created by the end of August, followed by Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (8,741), Marrakech-Safi (7,124), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (7,035), Fès-Meknès (4,232), Souss-Massa (4,099), the Oriental region (3,578), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (2,376), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (1,801), Drâa-Tafilalet (1,375), Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab (965), and Guelmim-Oued Noun (491).
By legal form, the single-member limited liability company ranks first with a share of 64.9%, followed by the limited liability company (SARL) with 34.5%.
