Morocco created during the first ten months of 2024 78,244 businesses, according to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC).
These companies are divided into legal entities (56,292) and natural persons (21,952), as indicated in OMPIC’s general overview ºfor its business creation barometer.
The sectoral distribution shows a predominance of the trade sector, representing 34.73% of newly established businesses, followed by construction and real estate activities (19.36%), miscellaneous services (18.47%), transportation (8.07%), industries (7.3%), hotels and restaurants (5.63%), ICT (2.79%), financial activities (1.99%), and agriculture and fishing (1.67%).
Regionally, Casablanca-Settat leads with 24,571 companies created by the end of October, followed by Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (11,328), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (9,121), Marrakech-Safi (8,875), Fez-Meknes (5,409), Souss-Massa (5,323), Oriental region(4,588), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (3,083), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (2,238), Draa-Tafilalet (1,766), Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab (1,308), and Guelmim-Oued Noun (634).
In terms of legal structure, limited liability companies (SARL) represented the majority at 64.9%, followed by single-member limited liability companies (SARLAU) at 34.5%, joint-stock companies (SA) at 0.3%, and branches at 0.1%.
