New Investment Charter Spurs $ 9.2 billion in Projects in Morocco

Morocco has greenlit 171 investment projects worth nearly MAD 94 billion ($9.2 billion) since launching its New Investment Charter, Minister Delegate for Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies, Karim Zidane, announced on Tuesday in Rabat.

These projects are expected to create more than 54,000 jobs, Zidane pointed out during the House of Councillors’ question time. Among them, 53 are backed by foreign investment from 18 countries.

The Minister also highlighted the government’s investment promotion action plan, which focuses on mobilizing private investment – whether domestic, foreign or from Moroccan expatriates- through the reform of state investment policy and the adoption of an incentive charter for all types of investment.

He recalled that a strategic roadmap had been put in place to enhance the business climate in collaboration with key stakeholders, outlining 46 initiatives aimed at facilitating investment and addressing the challenges faced by investors during the 2023-2026 period.

Zidane pointed out that 83% of these initiatives had been launched by the end of 2024. The same period saw the organization of international tours to publicize Morocco’s investment offer and exchange views with leading companies, with a view to attracting strategic projects capable of creating promising economic ecosystems, like the “electric mobility” sector.

These projects were greenlit by the Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), via the National Investment Commission, which is dedicated to supporting all economic sectors throughout their entire life cycle.
