Morocco jumped one spot to rank 76th globally out of 133 countries in the 2024 Network Readiness Index prepared by the Portulans Institute, scoring 45.93 and reflecting its progress in leveraging digital technologies.
Titled, “Building a Digital Tomorrow: Public-Private Partnerships for Digital Readiness,” the report noted that the Kingdom came in first among North African and Maghreb countries and 9th across the Middle East and North Africa.
Published in partnership with the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, the index assessed the digital readiness of 133 countries across four dimensions—technology, people, governance, and impact—based on 54 indicators.
In this regard, Morocco placed 64th in technology, 72nd in people category, 83rd in governance, and 99th in impact.
When it comes to technology, the country ranked 72nd in accessibility, 51st in content, and 58th in future technologies.
In the people category, Morocco placed 54th in the individuals, 66th in business, and 83rd in government.
For governance, the Kingdom ranked 80th in trust, 37th in regulation, and 118th in inclusivity.
In the impact category, Morocco stood at 71st for economic impact and 96th for both quality of life and SDG contribution.
The report noted that the Arab States include four economies with strong digital performance, with Morocco and Jordan surpassing expectations in Technology and People.
Across the Middle East and North Africa, the United Arab Emirates topped the list, ranking 28th globally, followed by Saudi Arabia in 35th place. Qatar came next, followed by Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and then Jordan.
Globally, the United States secured the top spot, followed by Singapore, Finland, Sweden, South Korea, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Denmark.
