Minister Baraka: 35 cities to benefit from infrastructure investments ahead of 2030 World Cup

Morocco’s Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, announced Tuesday that 35 cities will benefit from infrastructure development projects as part of preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Responding to an oral question in the House of Councillors on “the strengthening of road infrastructure,” Baraka stated that the World Cup will be a milestone in Morocco’s development. He noted that the related projects will not be limited to the major cities hosting the matches but will extend to other regions as well.

Baraka emphasized that infrastructure is central to these projects, with ongoing work to plan and develop essential road facilities to ease the pressure on the main host cities and neighboring areas that will host training sessions for the competing teams.

He also outlined a comprehensive infrastructure roadmap to ensure the success of the 2030 World Cup, which includes major initiatives such as the construction of the future Grand Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane and the completion of a continental highway linking Rabat to Casablanca by 2029.
