Marsa Maroc sees strong performance in 2024, boosted by growth in container and bulk traffic

Marsa Maroc’s consolidated turnover (TO) grew by 15% in the first nine months of 2024, reaching 3.717 billion dirhams (MMDH).

The Group’s traffic increased by 13%, totaling 46.9 million tonnes by the end of September, driven by growth across nearly all traffic segments, as reported in its quarterly indicators.

Container traffic continued its upward trend, with transshipment volumes rising 14% and domestic traffic up 12% during the first nine months of 2024.

Bulk traffic also saw positive results, with solid and miscellaneous bulk traffic growing 13% to 16.4 million tonnes, mainly due to increased imports of cereals and sulfur. Liquid bulk traffic grew by 11% by the end of September.

In the third quarter of 2024, the scope of Marsa Maroc’s consolidation changed, with the company increasing its stake in the SMA subsidiary from 51% to 100%.

Marsa Maroc also invested 392 million dirhams as of September 30 in its equipment renewal and infrastructure modernization program.

As of September 30, the Group’s net debt stood at -390 million dirhams, consisting of 1.97 billion dirhams in financing debts and 2.36 billion dirhams in cash reserves.
