Automotive delegation of 8 companies explores Morocco’s growing auto industry

A delegation of eight companies from the Aragón Automotive and Mobility Cluster (CAAR) recently embarked on a trade mission to Morocco, reported Auto Revista.

The group aimed to explore the country’s burgeoning automotive sector within the Maghreb region, establishing in-person connections with top-tier companies already operating in the area.

The same source mentioned that over a three-day period, the Spain-based delegation visited key cities such as Kenitra and Tangier to gain firsthand insights into Morocco’s automotive industry.

The delegation comprised representatives from Umec, Gemypa, Asai, Elmeg, Marena, Algontec, Entrerríos Servicios Generales, and Linamar.

“This mission was focused on learning and networking with various institutions and companies, with the aim of exploring future collaborations that benefit our members,” commented David Romeral, managing director of CAAR.

The delegation visited Renault’s factory in Tangier and toured Tier-1 suppliers like Sigit, a specialist in plastic injection, and Premo, a manufacturer of electronic components.

They traveled the following day to Kenitra, where they visited Fujikura Automotive’s facilities and the Institute of Automotive Industry Training (IFMIA).

The delegation was later welcomed by Nexteer Automotive, a manufacturer of electric power steering systems for the Stellantis Group, among others.

The same source emphasized that “the mission participants were impressed by the advanced level of development in Morocco’s automotive industry.” They praised CAAR’s initiative, stating that “it allowed them to identify new growth opportunities that would have been difficult to spot remotely.”

This marks CAAR’s second visit to North Africa in the past six months, aiming to provide its members with new business opportunities to enhance their competitiveness in an ever-evolving global market

The first trade mission of this kind, conducted last May, also included Casablanca, with a highlight being the Stellantis plant in Kenitra, which is currently doubling its production capacity and manufacturing the Peugeot 208 alongside its facility in Figueruelas.
