Morocco’s Customs and Indirect Tax Administration announced the implementation of a final anti-dumping duty on Turkish-made electric ovens. The measure, detailed in a circular issued last Friday, is based on Joint Decision No. 1443.24 by the Minister of Industry and Trade and the Minister of Economy and Finance, dated December 24.
According to the circular, the anti-dumping duty will be applied in two phases: a provisional duty lasting six months and a final duty extending for five years.
Effective immediately, Turkish electric ovens will be subject to a provisional duty of 34.05% for products exported by “ITIMAT MAKINA SANAYI VE TICARET A.S” and 62.07% for all other Turkish exporters. The final duty, applicable for five years, will target portable, non-integrated electric ovens with a capacity of 70 liters or less, designed for household use.
The circular clarified that the duty does not apply to imports of air fryers or any other products that fall outside the specified definition of electric ovens.
The Customs Administration instructed its offices to enforce the collection of the final anti-dumping duty, along with the related value-added tax (VAT). It also mandated the reimbursement of importers for the difference between the provisional and final duties where applicable.
The decision reflects Morocco’s commitment to protecting domestic industries from unfair trade practices, ensuring a level playing field for local manufacturers.
